Empowering Youth: Empowering Bangladesh

“This is a democratic transition which happens once in a lifetime.”

Dr. Anisuzzaman Chowdhury, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor of the Government of Bangladesh, and Emeritus Professor at Western Sydney University

At the Empowering Bangladesh Conference, Dr. Anisuzzaman Chowdhury—Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, Government of Bangladesh—delivered a compelling call to action centered on the country’s youth. In his presentation, “Youth as Catalysts for Change,” Dr. Chowdhury spotlighted the immense potential of Bangladesh’s 15–29 age group, which makes up nearly 30% of the population, and challenged policymakers to harness this demographic force for national transformation.

Proposing bold reforms such as standardized education, universal national defense training, and lowering the voting age, Dr. Chowdhury emphasized the urgency of equipping young people to lead. He underscored the generational divide and the technological shift already underway—and made it clear that youth must be at the forefront of shaping Bangladesh’s democratic future.
