Constitutional Reforms and the Role of Law in a New Bangladesh
“History is like a mirror and we have to learn from it. We want a new Bangladesh, BD 2.0. Every generation, one after another must keep building a mountain out of stone. This is what the dream is like. We have to continuously fight for freedom.”
Barrister Assaduzzaman Fuaad, General Secretary, Amar Bangladesh (AB) Party
Barrister Assaduzzaman Fuaad, General Secretary of the Amar Bangladesh (AB) Party, brought a historical and legal lens to the Empowering Bangladesh Conference through his presentation, “Constitutional Reforms and the Role of Law in a New Bangladesh.” In a candid and reflective address, he examined the roots of political fragmentation in Bangladesh and emphasized the urgent need to confront history in order to build a more just and united future.
Calling for a reimagining of Bangladesh’s constitutional framework, Barrister Fuaad proposed “BD 2.0”—a national reset grounded in truth, accountability, and generational responsibility. He argued that past political fractures and inter-party conflicts must be studied, not ignored, if the country is to move beyond cycles of instability.
