Invest in Bangladesh's next generation of leaders.
Bangladesh Empowered works with institutions, foundations, and individual donors who believe education and mentorship are the fastest path to a stronger, more accountable Bangladesh. Here's how to join us.
Why Partner With Bangladesh Empowered
We're diaspora-founded and Bangladesh-rooted — not a US organization studying Bangladesh from a distance. We operate with direct ties to institutions and communities on the ground.
A few things that set us apart:
Named legacy, documented intellectual capital. Ambassador Islam's diplomatic record and his collected writings — Reclaiming Bangladesh, published by University Press Limited — give us a credentialed foundation most peer organizations don't have.
Lean and accountable. Founder-led, with disciplined financial management and direct disbursement to named recipients at named institutions.
Network depth. Ties to The Dhaka Forum, Bangladesh's diplomatic and journalism communities, and US non-profit communications and policy networks.
What We Do
Scholarships. Nearly 500 scholarships awarded in year 1 across partner institutions in Bangladesh, supporting students with financial need and academic promise.
Leadership development. Programming built on Ambassador Islam's framework of strategic thinking, public service ethics, and civic responsibility — drawing directly from his collected writings.
Mentorship. Ongoing support connecting scholars to a network of diplomats, academics, and policy professionals.
Why Now
Bangladesh's demographic dividend depends on whether talented young people outside elite networks can access education and leadership pathways. We close that gap with direct student aid and the kind of mentorship institutional education alone rarely provides.
Ways to Partner
Fund a scholarship. Support a student directly — cover tuition, fees, or program costs at one of our partner institutions in Bangladesh. You can fund a single scholar or help grow the endowment for ongoing cohorts.
Donate to the foundation. General support keeps the foundation running — staff time, program development, and the operational work behind everything else on this page. [Ways to Give / Donate]
Host or co-lead a program. Bring in speakers, convenings, or on-the-ground programming built around democracy, governance, and nation-building — the same themes at the center of Ambassador Islam's writing. This is where universities, think tanks, and civic organizations plug in: hosting a conference, co-sponsoring a speaker series, or putting boots on the ground for a joint initiative in Bangladesh or the diaspora.
